A Plan for a Happy Life

January – I Will "Show Up" for Everything I Do
In my book, Organizing for the Good Life, I devote a whole chapter to the theme that showing up is 80 percent of everything. What I mean by "showing up" is this: Give what you're doing your full attention. When you're working, really work. Don't just go through the motions. When you're with your family, turn off your cell phone and give them your undivided attention. I paired this resolution with January because I think it's the foundation for living the Good Life. When you truly show up, it's amazing what you can accomplish. 
February – I Will De-clutter My Home
Hey, what better time to do this chore than the dark, dreary month of February? Simplifying your life begins with your environment. Take a big garbage bag and gather up clothes you don't wear, books you've already read, knick-knacks you don't like. Send it all to Goodwill – and don't replace it! Too much stuff clutters your environment and stifles creativity; getting rid of it will energize your home!
March – I Will Deepen a Meaningful Friendship
Have you lost touch with someone whose company you really enjoy? Maybe it's a former coworker or your college roommate. Get in touch with that person! Call or send an e-mail or even plan a road trip to visit her. If you've just met someone who's a good prospect, invite her to lunch! Why not? Good times and meaningful conversations with friends make life rich and full!
