Ringing in the New Year
Celebrations Around the United States
By Suzy Feine
Walt Disney World, Orlando, Fla.For a rockin' New Year's Eve celebration, consider heading down to Walt Disney World.
Downtown Disney's Pleasure Island, a collection of eight uniquely-themed nightclubs, will host live performances from big name artists on December 31, for the 21 and older crowd. Guests will also enjoy champagne toasts, fireworks, desserts and more.
Or if you're looking for a more "thrilling" New Year's Eve experience for the whole family, take everyone for a ride on the newly revamped Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ at Disney-MGM Studios. A new random ride sequence will be unveiled, taking riders on unpredictable "ups" and "downs."
Plus, visitors to the park will still be able to view the spectacular Osbourne Family Spectacle of Lights with more than five million lights adorning the studio's backlot.
Disney's Magic Kingdom will also offer New Year's Eve fun with double the parades and fireworks, and those who are fans of Epcot can enjoy the colorful Tapestry of Nations parade.
For more information or to order tickets, call 407/W-DISNEY.
First Night, Boston, Mass.Since 1976, First Night has offered an alternative to the standard New ear's Eve party. Geared toward families, this celebration focuses on the arts and provides Boston's artists a means of showcasing their artistic and cultural talents.
