Songs to Soothe Your Baby

Pages:  1  2

Now that you have your baby in your arms, you may want to try singing a few time-tested tunes to her. Hearing your lyrical voice can soothe her, educate her and facilitate her own speech development. And don't worry if you think your voice can shatter glass -- babies can't tell if you're singing off pitch. They just know they like it! (And you may like it, too -- lulling a baby to sleep can have the same effect on her parents.) MIDI files of some songs are included to refresh your memory.

Rock-a-bye, Baby

Rock-a-bye, baby, on the treetop
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall
And down will come baby, cradle and all.
Rock-a-bye, baby, thy cradle is green
Father's a nobleman, mother's a queen
And Betty's a lady, and wears a gold ring
And Johnny's a drummer, and drums for the king.

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

Twinkle, twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are.
Up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky,
Twinkle, twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are.

Weary travelers in the dark, thank you for your little spark.
Who could see which path to go, if you did not twinkle so,
Twinkle, twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are.
