Grab the Baking Soda
Baking Soda is Safe for Your Family and the Environment
Clean Baby Spills
Clean and deodorize baby spills or accidents on carpeting by soaking up as much as possible. When dry, sprinkle with baking soda and let sit 15 minutes before vacuuming.
Clean Baby Combs
Rinse baby combs and brushes by swishing them in a small basin of water with 1 teaspoon baking soda. Rinse and allow to dry.
Clean Baby Bottles
Fill bottles with warm water and add 1 teaspoon baking soda. Shake, rinse and then clean as usual. Freshen bottle nipples and bottle brushes overnight by soaking in a mixture of 4 tablespoons baking soda per 1 quart hot water. Drain, rinse and clean as normal in the morning.
Toddler Toothpaste
Use baking soda as toothpaste – or add a little to your child's regular toothpaste – to help take care of plaque buildup.
Clean Pool Toys
Baking soda cleans plastic and vinyl pool toys and even removes mildew odors. Use a solution of 1/4 cup baking soda in 1 quart of warm water. Wipe down and rinse. Smaller items may be soaked in the solution and then rinsed clean. For really dirty toys, sprinkle baking soda on a clean dampened sponge, scrub and then rinse clean.
Clean Grills
Grill grime is no picnic, so get redy for your next barbecue by sprinkling dry baking soda on a damp brush, scrub and rinse clean. For tough, greasy stains, scrub with a wire brush and a baking soda paste (3 parts baking soda to 1 part warm water).
