Affordable At-home Fitness for the Busy Parent

Fitting in Fitness
Even when we have the equipment and resources, some of us still have a hard time finding time for exercise. "We all have the same 24 hours a day, 7 days a week," says professional organizer Janet Barclay, owner of the Organized Assistant in Hamilton, Ont. "It is how you choose to spend that time that makes all the difference."
Try setting the alarm for half an hour earlier to make time to exercise before you shower and begin your daily routine. An added benefit is that you are less likely to be interrupted at this hour of the day! - Keep all your exercise wear in the same place so you can get ready quickly and easily.
- Schedule exercise sessions, and write them in your calendar. Treat these appointments with yourself with the same importance you would give a session with a personal trainer or an outside exercise class. Let family members know you will not be available during that time.
- Reward yourself for making the time to exercise. For individual workout sessions, something as simple as a cup of your favorite tea may be enough. For meeting your fitness goals for a month, you could treat yourself to some stylish new exercise clothes.
